GVSU Students on the field of Olympic Stadium, where the eyes of the world were focused in the Summer of 2000.

Home to the 2000 Olympics, Sydney used the opportunity in hosting the Olympics to not just create a first rate Olympic Park, but create a whole new community, Homebush Bay, on what used to be industrial wasteland. Today, long after the glow of the 2000 Olympics has dimmed, Olympic Park/Homebush bay remains a premier facility for professional and amateur sport, for conferences and convention activity and a place to live. Telso Stadium (Olympic Stadium) hosts rugby matches in a facility that seats over 100,000 and rivals the best stadiums in North America. As part of the program, we attend a Rugby League game at Olympic Stadium and tour the rest of Olympic Park. Olympic Park is accessible by train. In fact a whole new train line and state of the art station were constructed just for the Olympics. Today, former althete housing, have become permanent apartments and Homebush Bay will continue to grow.
