Study Abroad for Math Majors

Yes, math majors can study abroad! The Padnos International Center has information about many study abroad programs that Grand Valley has a partnership with, short-term programs that are led by GVSU faculty, and numerous other non-GVSU programs. Future teachers can also complete their teacher assisting or student teaching abroad. Click here for more study abroad information for math majors, or stop by my office if you have any questions.

Research with Undergraduates

Grand Valley has many opportunities for undergraduate students to become involved in research, including the Summer Student Scholars program, the McNair Scholars program, and the math department's own Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program. Click here for more information about generalized catalan numbers, the topic I will research with students during the 2017 REU.

My research interests also include algebraic combinatorics, specifically A-theory, a discrete homotopy theory for graphs and simplicial complexes. My dissertation (Arizona State University, 2004) is titled "A Discrete Homotopy Theory for Graphs, with Applications to Order Complexes of Lattices."   pdf version   ps version
