LA SOCIEDAD INTERNACIONAL HISPÁNICA HONORARIA

NATIONAL COLLEGIATE HISPANIC HONOR SOCIETY

SIGMA DELTA PI

GRAND VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY

Sigma Delta Pi invites those students who seek excellence in the study of the language, culture, history, and literature of  Spanish speaking peoples to apply for admission to the chapter for 2009.

Sigma Delta Pi is not only the largest foreign language society in existence, but also one of the very best; a fact attested to by its membership in the Association of College Honor Societies and accredited body, which demands the maintenance of the highest academic standards.

The society was formed to encourage colleges and universities to acquire a greater interest in, and a deeper understanding of, Spanish speaking cultures and to foster friendly relations and mutual respect between nations of English speech and those of Spanish speech.

Our local GVSU chapter is authorized to honor with membership outstanding students who are earnest supporters of all things Hispanic.  The insignia of Sigma Delta Pi reflects this sense of pride in its use of the royal seal of Fernando de Aragón and Isabel de Castilla, Los Reyes Católicos, and the red and gold colors of the Spanish flag.
