The Student's Role In Advising

            Initiate contact with your faculty advisor and/or an advising center
            Give thoughtful consideration to your academic and career goals
            Bring a current copy of your degree progress form to your advising meeting (go to student services)
            Prepare a written list of questions before each meeting with your advisor
            Actively participate in the advising session
            Ask questions! If you do not understand a policy or procedure, ask questions until you do understand
            Know the Academic Calendar Do not miss deadlines Know when to register and drop or add courses
            Accept responsibility for making final decisons on academic choices. Academic advisors will present you with options,
            the decisions are yours.


The Faculty/Professional Staff Members Role in Advising

            Assist the student with an understanding of the field/profession
            Review the student schedule to ensure that course pre-requisites are met
            Suggest possible solutions to students' scheduling problem
            Mentor and Guide.... not direct
            Serve as a resource for students with academic difficulties

Primary Focus: For more than a decade, Seidman Undergraduate Student Services’ mission has been “to facilitate business students’ successful progress through graduation”.
