Alticor (Amway) Corporate Wellness
This is an unpaid internship, 8-12 weeks in length. The program is operated by Corporate Fitness Sytems (which has a broad reach in fitness/wellness facilities). Students will work approximately 20 hours per week, and be involved with the employee incentive program, fitness assessments, personal training, orientations and recreational programs. Sites include a facility in East Grand Rapids, Bridgewater Club in Grand Rapids and Charleveaux Club. Duyring the last two week of the internship, students will rotate facilities to gain exposure to a wider variety of experiences.

The Wellness Center: Metropolitan

The Wellness Center, a Metropolitan/Spectrum Health Service, has provided health and wellness services for the past 16 years to over 500 corporations in Michigan. Our client list includes Amway, Metropolitan Hospital, Bissell Inc., Spartan Stores, and Spectrum Health. As consultants and service providers, The Wellness Center is recognized for innovative employee health risk assessments, health promotion programming and health care cost containment plans.
The Wellness Center is seeking applications for internships from qualified undergraduate and graduate-level students with backgrounds in health and wellness. This is an opportunity for students to become active members within our progressive programs.
The Wellness Center's internship program offers a wide variety of practical and educational experiences in the areas of assessment, program planning, marketing, implementation, and evaluation. They will assist with the Executive Physical Program, Spectrum Health Promotions Program and Corporate Programs. One project will be expected of each intern during their internship.
Interns at The Wellness Center serve a 12-15 week period, committing to 20-40 hours per week. Current CPR certification is required. Interns will receive a $150-300 monthly stipend.

Health Fitness Corporation, one of the largest corporate fitness management companies, offers excellent internship opportunities for students looking for corporate fitness center experience.The Healthy Activity Center (Auburn Hills, MI) has a 26,000 sq ft. facility with cardiovascular equipment, strength training and free weights. It also houses a 2,000 sq ft exercise room offering 50 exercise classes per week, and indoor running track, and staff provide personalized exercise testing and prescription.
Internship Objectives: The internship program objectives are to provide the student or recent graduate with practical experience in employee health and fitness programs and to prepare them for entry level employment in the field. Further, Health Fitness Corporation believes it is valuable to interact and share ideas with newly emerging fitness professionals.
Responsibilities: The intern responsibilities may include, but are not exclusive to:
Conducting fitness assessments
Designing exercise prescriptions
and conducting program orientations
Supervision of the exercise

Planning and developing

The internship requirement will be 16 weeks in length. Interns will
be expected to work a 40 hour week and to experience all shifts and hours

General Motors Pontiac- Centerpoint Campus
Health Fitness Corporation has grown from two employees and one client to more than 500 employees with over 150 managed programs and additional consulting projects. In April 1995, Health Fitness Physical Theraphy merged with Fitness Systems and became a wholly owned subsidiary of Health Fitness Corporation. The combined includes 4 units: Corporate health and Fitness (120 managed programs), Hospital health and Fitness (6 managed programs), and Physical Therapy (15 free standing clinics, 5 on-site physical therapy centers and 6 on-site ergonomic programs)
Professional Staff: HFC requires that professional staff have a bachelor's or master's degree in exercise science or a related degree and recommend ACSM certification. In addition, we consider fitness center floor supervision to be one of the most imposrtant service qualities which distinguishes a professionally managed program.
Centerpoint campus: The fitness center is approximately 7,200 square feet, with an eligible population of 12,000. The hours of operation are Monday- Friday from 5:30am to 7:00pm. The fitness center houses a complete strength training circuit, treadmills, bicycles, stair climbers, elliptical crosstrainers, a rower, a ski machine, free weights, and a group exercise room.
Internship Objectives
The Health Fitness Corporation at Genral Motors allows interns to step
from classroom to worksite. They will have the opportunity to gain solid
comprehension of corporate health and fitness through active involvement
in a wide range of activities and programs including fitness assessments,
exercise reccommendations, orientations, group exercise, one-on-one training,
health promotion programming, and facility management. These individuals
will function as part of the Health Fitness Corporation team and be challenged
to dircetly contribute their knowledge while gaining a broad experience
in corporate health and fitness.
Therefore, the objectives od the Health Fitness Corporation
intership program are to provide students or recent graduates with practical
experience in employee health and fitness programs and to prepare them
for entry level employment in the feild. Furthmore, Health Fitness Corporation
believes strength and success are greatly founded in the knowledge and
capabilities of its staff. Thus, the intership program is designed to be
mutually rewarding to Health Fitness Corporation, fitness program participants,
and interns.
To meet these objectives, interns will be given responsibilities similar
to those of the Health Fitness Corporation fitness professionals. These
may include, but are not exclusive to:

Thus, all programs staff must maintain a clean, neat, professional appearnce
at all times. Professional staff and interns attire should be appropriate
for demonstrating exercise. Conservative clothing styles, hairstyles, and
