Robert is currently a graduate student pursuing a masters degree in biology. He graduated from GVSU in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in biology and has worked in the AEP since the spring of 2007. Robert's independent project on the insulating properties of tundra vegetation contributed to the paper " Soil Temperature and Thaw Response to Air Warming Varies with Changing Vegetation" which was published in the proceedings of the Ninth International Conference on Permafrost in June of 2008. His main interests are in the growth and development of tundra plants in response to temperature variation
In the summers of 2007 and 2008, Robert was responsible for conducting weekly measurements on plant growth and development at sites in Barrow. During the 2008 field season he also assisted other members in plant identification and field training.
After graduating, Robert plans to pursue a Ph.D. and hopes to teach and conduct research on the impacts of climate change on arctic vegetation.
