A notable activity

Initiated and organized a statistical conference, Statistics Career Day, held on Friday, October 14, 2005 at Grand Valley State University. It was a great success! More than 500 students, presenters, exhibitors, educators, and volunteers contributed to the event. Below is a picture of the organizing committee. Please click Statistics Career Day for more pictures. It resulted in a national publicity (page 16-17, AMSTAT NEWS, January, 2006).

Some pictures from my other activities

Below is a picture that Soon shows off his diving skill from a cliff in Jamaica, 12/05

Below is from a publication of the Jenison Board of Education Newsletter, Oct/Nov 2001. I volunteered as an assistant to the coach from 1994 to 2004.

Mr. Soon Hong has faithfully given of his time as a volunteer for the past seven years with the Jenison girls' tennis program. Team members have benefited from this commitment as Mr. Hong has led the girls in drills and physical conditioning. They have gained confidence and inspiration from his numerous talks with them. From sweeping and getting the courts ready for a match to supervising drills, Mr. Hong has always been willing to help. His commitment to the team has helped to establish a real feeling of family among the team. Although Mr. Hong's two daughters have since graduated and gone on to college he still continues to give of his time to the tennis program.
