Bylaws Final DRAFT (9/15/06): Final Comment period: DIGEST
Sept. 15 - Sept. 21

INVITATION   ·   RESPONSES  ·   HOME

All,

Thanks for input on Draft #6 of the proposed faculty governance structure prior to, and at, Thursday's First Provisional University Libraries Faculty Assembly meeting (aka faculty meeting). Based on the relatively low volume of comments, it's my sense that either we're very close to a final document, or you're far too busy with the beginning of a new school year to put your responses into words and send them along — or both!

So, here's where it stands right now: I've made a clean draft, and posted in the usual spot. All the endnotes and comments have been removed, and edits have been done per discussion in the faculty meeting, and/or for grammar and clarity. If this draft is acceptable, we'll conduct a formal vote and convey the results to the Dean. Before that happens, there will be a final comment period of just a few days, so that all can review the draft and run up any red flags — though there have been opportunities for that since June, so I really hope we haven't simply been avoiding any really involved discussions until this late date.

Final DRAFT and Final Comment period
============================
What I think we can expect as pretty much the final governance document draft, and previous materials, can be found on the web at http://faculty.gvsu.edu/morrowd/LibFac/FacBylaws/FacBylawsHome.htm
Links include the newest revision of the document, marked "Final Draft", and a link to the digest for the Final Comment Period. Comments or concerns should be sent to me by e-mail; they should be clearly defined and specific -- no need to send anything at all if you feel this is a draft you are ready to vote on (assuming you are among the eligible/tenure-line voters). Comments will be accepted through 4pm, Thursday 21 October. If there are no clear indications to the contrary by then, a vote to accept the document as it stands will follow.

Thank you!
Debbie
