The rock exposures in the Pictured Rocks area are interpreted to include the Late Precambrian Jacobsville Sandstone, the Cambrian Munising Formation which includes three members (Miners Castle, Chapel Rock and Basal Conglomerate) and the Early Ordovician Au Train Formation.
