What is
Biometric Screening? Many of the health related
costs that come with large corporations stem from preventable health
problems that go undetected among their staff. Early detection and
treatment of conditions such as hypertension, dyslipidemia, tobacco
use, physical inactivity and metabolic syndrome can save a company
millions of dollars each year. For this reason, biometric
screening, which assesses these health risk variables among company
staff, can be one of the best investments in employee health and health
cost savings.
*A
2010 study in the journal Health Affairs showed that every dollar spent
on
wellness programs reduced corporate medical costs by $3.27 and cut
absenteeism
costs by $2.73.
* A
survey by the National
Business Group on Health found that 61% of firms found wellness
initiatives to
be one of the three most effective tools to keep down healthcare costs
