Little Miss Sunshine

By Amanda Witte

If my childhood were a color, what would it be? Yellow. It is sunny, cheerful, and bright. That is the only color that I can think of that can represent it.

I was a happy kid, and I wanted my life to be that way. And, most of the time it was. I was never gloomy or depressed. I didn't get upset very often. Happy-go-lucky describes it well. I laughed a lot and always had a smile on my face and a relentless twinkle in my eye. I could brighten up anyone’s day, no matter how bad, like a newly lit candle illuminates the pitch-black darkness. I found the good and the funny in everything, and I loved to have fun no matter what. I was sunny and cheery, which is the color yellow.

I haven’t changed much, though. Sure, I’ve gotten much older and I’ve matured a lot, but I still love to just live life and have a good time. Ask any one of my friends, and they’ll tell you I laugh and smile a lot, joke around, and just love to be high on life. I can’t now and never will be able to stay mad at someone for even a short period of time. That’s just me, always and forever Little Miss Sunshine.

For me life is there to just plain live it and to take the opportunities and chances it throws you. I always have a lot on my plate, and I enjoy it to a certain extent. Sometimes I look at the clock and I can’t believe where the time has gone. Its like the clock has just decided to take some of the hours out of the day, and take a single striding leap over one hour of the day. Life has been and always will be and empty canvas, waiting for me to pick up my paintbrush and create a masterpiece.
