Best Friends
By: Elizabeth Bykerk
Mindy come get me tomorrow, 'kay?
Okay.
Lets play in the snow today.
Okay, I will get the hole puncher.
She runs her pigtails bouncing like a kid on the trampoline, to her house.
Hey car slow down before I call the cops on you!
Nice kitty-kitty.
Liz, ten minutes til you have come home.
But Mom I don’t want to come home.
You have to if you keep complaining you will have to come home now.
It's been ten minutes time to come home.
No.
Don’t make me come over there.
She drags me away with me screaming like someone in a horror movie.
She has moved away, we are not best friends, and two other people have come and gone. I don’t know where she lives or even how old she is. I don’t know if she is still alive. She and I have lost contact like a kid losing their mom or dad in a grocery store.
