Painful Eyes
by Leslie Konyndyk
Mike who’s eyes cry out in pain
And who only asked for happiness in vain
Who always cared for the hopeless and incurable
Who’s life was nothing less than horrible,
Who speaks in a soft humble voice
Who was deceived to think he had no other choice
Mike, who’s life seemed to slowly dim
Who cared about no one but him
Who last tells me I’m his beautiful rose
Who’s love-filled eyes are now painfully closed.
