Snowy Dreams Become Reality
by Becky Stegink
As I gazed out the window watching the snowfall, I realized it was time for Christmas decorations to be hung. I looked around the other houses surrounding mine, and fixed my eyes on the new blanket of snow. My wonderful sight was soon startled by my neighbor’s house. As my stare continued around their house, I was horrified when I saw a glittery reindeer in the front yard. As I glared out the window I started to drift.
I got irritated with the reindeer. I decided I was going to take the reindeer out. I slipped slowly across the layered ground like a snake. I ran up to the reindeer and gave it one large kick. The deer toppled over and hit the ground with a thud. I ran to the house so if they turned it upright, the lights wouldn’t come on. As I looked at the reindeer, lying on the ground like a helpless flopping fish, I started to cheer.
Then all of a sudden I heard my mom’s voice calling me back to reality. I woke up with a start. I slowly looked out the window and saw the reindeer standing in their lawn.
The next morning, as I walked out to the bus stop, I saw the reindeer sitting contentedly in their yard. I was quiet as a mouse and pushed the deer down to the ground. Then, as quickly as I could, I gathered myself together and ran off to school.
