Two Vases Depicting Artemis as "Mistress of the Animals"

Here, Artemis tames the two lions (?) on either side of her. From the Francois vase, the Louvre.

Artemis as a mother goddess The snake-like spirals, winged arms, and swastikas are all symbols of the mother goddess, as are the bull's head and the two lions (?) on either side of her. Note the birds (cranes?) on her wing-like arms and the fish in her skirt.
