Phase 1

Grant, et. al. (Figure 4.1, p32) suggests six steps in the 1st phase (Conceptual-Model Formulation) of systems analysis. Those steps are:

1. State the model objectives 2. Bound the system-of-interest 3. Categorize the components within the system-of-interest 4. Identify the relationships among the components of interest 5. Represent the conceptual model 6. Describe the expected patterns of model behavior
These steps are much the same as those identified by Northup as the seven basic properties of a system. A discussion of the comparison of the two are given in the writing spaces linked to the steps above.
