Physical model

A physical model is a tangible object that represents the system of interest. For example, a model airplane, a model of a dinosaur or car, etc. The most elegant of physical models may be the model of the Mississippi River that is used by the Army Corps of Engineers to help them make decisions such as how best to manipulate the locks in order to minimize flood damage. It is a miniature lanscape with water flowing.
